Crawling out of my hole to write more

A black-and-white dog climbing out of a dirt hole.
This is one of Elphie’s dog park friends. The neighborhood dogs love this hole.

I haven’t been blogging much over the past couple of years. I’m crawling out of my hole to write again, and I hope to post more regularly. That’s what everyone says when they come back, though, so we’ll see if I actually follow through.

What’s bringing me back to writing? One reason is that AI has become a practical tool in my day-to-day work, and I want to write about how I use it. Expect the familiar topics—HA/DR, performance tuning, and professional development—with AI alongside SSMS as a standard part of the toolkit.

I used to spend time streamlining SSMS because it was my main way of working with databases. AI agents are increasingly part of how I get database work done, so SSMS tips and tricks may give way to AI agent tips and tricks. This won’t be hype about AI revolutionizing the industry; I’ll share boots-on-the-ground examples of what is useful in real work.

I hope you’re as excited as I am to finally have a robot that can get some of my work done, so I can spend less time at the keyboard and more time with my pups.
